The Witcher (from Polish: ''Wiedźmin'') is a computer role-playing game for the PC developed by CD Projekt RED STUDIO and published by CD Projekt in Poland and Atari for the rest of the world. There are three camera styles available in The Witcher: two top-down perspectives, where the mouse is used to control everything, and an over-the-shoulder view, which brings the player closer to the ingame combat, but limits visibility. In all three views the controls can be changed to be primarily mouse focused or a combined keyboard and mouse approach. The combat system in The Witcher represents a departure from most RPGs. Players choose one of three fighting styles. The quick style allows for faster, less-damaging attacks with a greater chance of hitting faster enemies; the heavy style deals more damage in exchange for a slow attack speed, and a lower chance to hit faster enemies; and the group style features sweeping attacks best used if Geralt is surrounded. The player can switch between the styles at any point. Both of Geralt's main swords also have distinctively different combat styles from other weaponry, and serve very distinct purposes. The steel blade is used to fight humans and other flesh-and-blood beings, while the silver sword is more effective against supernatural monsters and beasts (against some of which steel may have no effect whatsoever). It was first released for the PSP in North America on November 6, 2007, and was later ported to the PlayStation 2, where it was first released on March 4, 2008 in North America. The initial PSP release garnered a mixed reception but was generally received well, with reviewers complementing gameplay mechanics and good graphics for the hand-held console, whilst most complaints concerned the brief length of the game and overly-strict adherence to the series' past formula by the new developer. The queen sends forth her most trusted servant, the corrupted Archbishop Alaric to ward off the Orc invasion. The actual events that happen between this and the next time we see the Orcs are unknown though Quroq is killed by Alaric at some point.
Meanwhile, the Necromancer Arantir is driven by his master Asha (who is the goddess of order) to fight against the demonic corruption in the Haven cities. He meets up with a novice Dark Knight named Ornella, introduced to him by Giovanni the vampire. With Ornella, now turned into a Necromancer, at his side, Arantir sets out towards the city of Flammschrein, the holy city which has been desecrated by the demon Orlando. After killing Orlando, Arantir visits the graves of Flammshrein where he frees a fragment of the true Queen Isabel's soul. Upon doing so, the succubus impostor who had been taking the place of the queen is revealed and she is forced to take over the city. Biara (the Succubus) uses the Heart of the Griffin, an artifact that sends demons to their hell, as a portal to the Haven city after having corrupted the Heart of the Griffin by means of a dark ritual. Arantir also meets with the Orcs and arranges an alliance via the Orc shaman Kujin after learning that Biara killed the heir to the Griffin Empire, Alexei.

Tribes of The East feature many previous bugfixes and improvements to the gameplay itself, left undone since the release of Hammers of Fate. Also, new features have been added. The primary attention of the developers has been put on the following game content:

• A new faction was added to the game: the Stronghold. Moreover, an additional upgrade was added to all dwellings, which acts as the alternate upgrades of Heroes IV. The player is, however, able to choose between the two upgrades whenever a type of concerned creatures is being hired.

The first involves the Necropolis faction, featuring Arantir (the antagonist from Dark Messiah of Might and Magic). The final campaign is primarily focused around the Academy faction, involving the return of the Wizard Zehir from the base game, along with an alliance of other factions against the demonic Inferno armies. There is also a prologue campaign, consisting of a single mission, that introduces the Orcs.The combat interface features are redesigned to allow easier access to certain spells,
• including Rune Magic and Might abilities. New spells have been added with the intent of rebalancing the combat and adding more content to the gameplay. The options for in-game and combat modes have a slight redesign for new settings, such as the creature's health change indicator and life bar span.
• The map editor is redefined to support campaign creator and feasible to support the previous versions of game maps along with expanded terrain and texture creation possibilities. Model editor for the standalone product only can also be part of the game package upon release.

The road system includes four water crossings, going clockwise: the Mainguy Causeway (Ocean Expressway connecting Sunset Hills to Port Crescent via manmade island), the Vale Causeway (Sunset Hills to Palm Harbor), the North T causeway (Manmade island to Palm Harbor), and the Memorial Tunnel (Port Crescent to Palm Harbor). Undercover also features a new contiguous highway system. In previous installments, highways were relatively small circuits concentrated within single boroughs. In Undercover the main highway is one large circuit circling the entire city, with each borough having a small piece of it. The longer length allows the highway to take on a more realistic shape, with long straight areas, gentle curves, rest areas and large interchanges. Also, the entire map is open from the start of the game, unlike previous installments where boroughs had to be unlocked.

The game's story mode sets the player in the story as a police officer going undercover into the criminal underground of Tri-City, a fictional city where the game is set. Players take on dangerous 'jobs' and compete in races in order to infiltrate and take down a ruthless international crime smuggling syndicate of street racers and car thieves. The player's only contacts to the police are federal handler Chase Linh, played by Maggie Q, and later Lt. Jack M. Keller played by Paul Pape. As the player wins races and blends in with the gangs by doing different jobs like stealing cars, he later ends up taking out the bosses and their thugs. As the end draws near Chau Wu calls the hero telling to return one of his cars that he claims that G-Mac had him steal when it was Hector and Zach that stole the car to begin with. The player gets the car from Carmen and then takes the car to the Warehouse district in Sunset Hills to save Chase. When he gets there he finds out that he has been tricked by Chase Lihn the whole time and then kills Chau Wu for his cell phone which has important data in regards to stolen cars from the docks. The player evades the police since they are after him as he tries to escape and go after Chase. Then the player goes after and takes out Chase and she is arrested for framing him and being involved with Chau Wu. Then later Carmen is seen talking to the player and she asks him to take her back to the University and mentions that she is a med student.

"Simulation" might not be the right word to describe a dirt-bike game with bare-bones setup options and a physics model that lets you pull off jumps and stunts that would leave real-life riders and their bikes piled up in a broken heap - but no matter how you define it, the fact remains that Motocross Madness was one of the most exciting and addictive games of 1998. In addition, more than one user has reported problems with video-card compatibility in Motocross Madness 2, but the majority can be corrected with updated drivers. I experienced no graphic glitches at all when playing with either a TNT2 or Voodoo2, but I did encounter one or two desktop crashes after particularly long sessions in the Stunt Quarry. But on the whole, the game seems relatively bug-free and stable. Motocross Madness 2 isn't the most realistic motorcycle simulation you can buy, but it's definitely one of the most enjoyable. The game's got a little something for everyone - and with a modest sticker price of around $35, it's also one that just about anyone can afford. If your system can run it, you'd do well to head out to grab a copy. You won't be sorry you did.

It is also being developed for Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and Windows. There are five mountains in Shaun White Snowboarding, including Alaska, Park City, Europe and Japan. Each mountain features up to three different sections: peak, back country and park (or resort). There is also a special version of the game only avalible from Target which costs more. This version gives you access to Target Mountain, a exclusive mountain with Target branding all over it. Eurogamer gave the Wii version 7/10, praising it as "the best looking version", singling out the presentation, soundtrack, implementation of the Wii Balance Board controls and multiplayer, while criticising the Wii Remote controls, half-pipe sections, difficulty level, and short duration of the single-player mode. It was a nominee for several Wii-specific awards from IGN in its 2008 video game awards, including Best New IP, Best Sports Game, Best Graphics Technology, Best Use of the Balance Board, and Game of the Year. The Xbox 360 version was nominated for "Worst Game Everyone Played" by GameSpot in their 2008 video game awards.

Dead Space is a third-person survival horror-action video game, developed by EA Redwood Shores for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows and released in October 2008. The player takes on the role of an engineer named Isaac Clarke, who battles a polymorphic, virus-like, alien infestation called the "Corruption", which turns humans into grotesque alien monsters called "Necromorphs", on board a stricken interstellar mining ship. The player takes the role of Isaac Clarke (named after science fiction writers Isaac Asimov and Arthur C. Clarke), an engineer who must fight his way through a stricken mining ship infested by the Corruption, a hostile, virus-like, free-roaming alien DNA with the ability to reanimate the bodies of the dead, turning them into grotesque monstrosities called Necromorphs. The game features an 'over the shoulder' third-person perspective, similar to games Resident Evil 4, Dark Sector and Gears of War. The interface does not feature a traditional head-up display. Instead, information is relayed to the player via holographic projections, which hover over or in front of Isaac's weapons and armor and can even be part of his armor; much like the 'health meter' which is integrated into his spinal armor. An in-game store can be accessed where items can be bought and sold. The only menu in which the game is not still in progress is the pause menu and the save console menu (though the save console is only accessible in areas where there are no enemies and becomes inactive during cutscenes.)

Left 4 Dead is a co-operative, survival horror, first-person shooter video game. It was developed by Turtle Rock Studios, which was purchased by the Valve Corporation part-way into development. The game uses the Source game engine, and is available for Windows-based personal computers and the Xbox 360. The game pits four Survivors of an apocalyptic pandemic against hordes of aggressive zombies. There are two game modes: a four-player, co-op Campaign mode, and an eight-player Versus mode. In both modes an AI, dubbed "The Director", controls level pacing and item spawns, in an attempt to create a dynamic experience and increase replay value. The game went gold on November 13, 2008, and was released on November 18, 2008 in the United States; and on November 21, 2008 in Europe to coincide with the tenth anniversary of the release of Half-Life. A five-minute trailer was released on Halloween. A playable demo was made available on November 6 for pre-purchasers and on November 11 for the general public, and was closed on November 18, 2008. The demo contained the majority of the first two chapters in the "No Mercy" campaign, and was playable in both single and multi-player co-op. Left 4 Dead was well received with an aggregate score of 88% on Game Rankings and 89% on Metacritic upon its release, with praise given for its replay value, focus on cooperative play, and movie-like experience. Similar to Team Fortress 2, Valve intends to support the game with downloadable content.

Assassin's Creed is a third-person stealth game in which the player primarily assumes the role of Altaïr as experienced by Desmond. The primary goal of the game is to carry out a series of assassinations ordered by Al Mualim, the leader of the Assassins. To achieve this goal, the player must travel from the Brotherhood's headquarters in Masyaf, across the terrain of the Holy Land known as the Kingdom to one of three cities, Jerusalem, Acre, or Damascus, to find the Brotherhood agent in that city. There, the agent, in addition to providing a safe house, gives the player minimal knowledge about the target, and requires them to perform additional intelligence gathering missions prior to attempting the assassination. These missions include eavesdropping, interrogation, pickpocketing, and completing tasks for informers and fellow assassins. Additionally, the player may take part in any number of side objectives, including climbing tall towers to map out the city, and saving citizens who are being threatened or harassed by the city guards. There are also various side quests that do not advance the plot such as hunting down and killing Templars and flag collecting. After completing each set of assassinations, the player is returned back to the Brotherhood and rewarded with a better weapon and then given another set of targets, with the player free to select the order of their targets.
